Cllr Springett attended the Repair cafe in Bearsted, organised by a group called Bearsted CAN ( climate action network). She attended, along with Cllr David Burton (leader of the council) and spent time finding out how the cafe ran with one of the volunteers Duncan Edwards (pictured).
The cafe ran from 1pm until 4pm and was incredibly well attended. There were volunteers repairing electrical and wooden items, children’s toys, bicycles, clothing and jewellery repairs. All sorts of items were brought for repair and it was free, with a request for a donation. Tea, coffee and an amazing array of cakes were available, again free but with an option to make a donation.
